I love that the cart was decorated and has a sign that says "Need a Ride?" That is helpful because I'm not sure everyone knows that we were available to give rides to folks. Even if not walking, I helped some students and parents by having them load heavy items into the cart and driving them over to their hall. However, I don't know if I don't look approachable or if they already had it covered, but not that many folks asked me for a ride during my two hours. Many were already using those carts provided by Res Life that can't be loaded onto a golf cart, so that might have been why. I just feel like I could have been more helpful.

As usual, this was awesome. Parents and family are always so grateful for the rides and help. I love getting to interact with everyone. There was a bit of a time when so many needed or requested carts right after the ceremony, but we couldn't always get to everyone. Not sure if this year was an outlier, but this was the first time I had seen a backlog like that.
It started out a bit rough. They sent out an email telling us where to meet at HQ to get the cart and even confirmed that the day before, but at some point they moved the HQ location but did not inform anyone. So I showed up and wandered around for a half hour or so, until finally I saw a person driving a cart. She informed me that they had moved to Balch Fieldhouse and I could pick up a cart there. Overall, not a big deal, but that is an important detail that was overlooked and really inconvenient for volunteers. The shift timing was a bit off, as well, as the only graduation going on at the Events Center was getting out right as the shift was scheduled to end. I know all of this sounds like I am complaining, so i do want to reiterate that the process is fun, they are super organized at HQ (once I found the spot), they are super helpful, and helping out parents and graduates is always a blast.
Always a good time. And this year we had the gas powered golf carts. Although I know not as good for the environment, the gas ones are better than the electric ones because it's harder to get around and in a timely manner with the electric carts. Also, when you have a full cart, the electric ones sputter going uphill. So I appreciated that. Overall, a good experience and got to meet a lot of fun families.
Either I don't look friendly or folks don't need as much help by that time of the day, but I didn't have many folks needing rides for the late shift. Most had the black carts and couldn't put things on the golf cart or didn't need it. Not a reflection on the experience, just something I run into with the late afternoon shifts. People kept asking me where to get the black carts, but we didn't receive training or information on that, so I wasn't much help. Also, I know the weather is something out of everyone's control, but it caused quit a mix up at the beginning of the shift with the hail. It caused issues with parking and delays from people who had to stay longer. They kept asking me for advice or what to do about parking, but I had no information for them. For graduation, the golf cart drivers have walkie-talkies that we can ask questions and relay information. That might be helpful here.
It's always fun and great to meet the families
It's always fun seeing the happy graduates and their proud parents.
The electric golf carts kept dying. I had two that I was driving die on me. But i love the event and getting to interact with all of the people.

Again, this isn't meant to be overly negative, as I love volunteering and the organizers are super helpful.
