A great experience. Supplying the family tents with more information on where the rez hall check-in tents are located would be helpful. The student volunteers were terrific -- great communicators and greeters.
A hot but fun day with great student volunteers at the Buff Family Tent near Farrand Field. Some minor complications -- people kept thinking we were the check-in tent for Libby Hall and several other halls near Farrand. Not a major thing. We assumed the check-in tents were in front of each hall, but but more than a few families seemed confused and told us that wasn't the case. It would be helpful for the Family Tents to have a list of check-in tent locations, as we serve as a kind of one-stop information center as well as the family schwag locales. Not a big deal, really, everybody got where they needed to go, but it would be helpful to help with lost students and parents.
A nice event -- loved meeting parents and families. Directions on where to meet were incorrect, but were then corrected. Hall director was great and very personable with families. Check in stations playing music is inadvisable as listening is paramount and down town between families checking in could be used for conversation. Instructions at t-shirt-bag-sanitizer give away stations were well delivered and clear.
