I volunteered with Central Austin Kickball (formerly Little Miss Kickball). We ran a concession stand at the UT basketball game. The environment was chaotic when I first arrived as not everyone knew exactly what their job was. Everything came together when it counted though and we made it through the night! It was great working alongside the girls and getting to talk and learn about them.

Serving in my hometown over Spring Break was amazing. I got to see a lot of families access resources that they needed in order to make it to payday. I also met a lot of amazing volunteers at Rust Street Ministries that served every week, it was amazing the relationships they had built with returning customers.
I had a great time as I always do at Open Door. I assisted with running booths that the kids walked around to in groups. We played games and ate candy all day! The staff is really welcoming and playing with the kids is always fun.
It was good to get out of your own head for a little while and think of others and their happiness this Christmas.
We left out pretty early in the morning, and went to a far off location in Bastrop, TX. We were working with another organization planting trees to replace ones that had previously burnt down. First they demonstrated what to do, and then they set us loose to plant the trees ourselves. It was cold and a little rainy, which was fine until the lightning came and we had to pack up. All in all though it was a rewarding experience and I would do it again.
We had a lot of fun, and hopefully shared that good spirit with others.
I had a good time and felt very productive. The people that hosted were very kind and made you feel right at home.
