This semester I was able to volunteer at Arkansas Children's Hospital Northwest Arkansas Campus in the Infusion Clinic. This is a fairly new clinic, and I was one of the first few volunteers to be put at this location. I sat at the welcome desk and was able to greet the patients coming in as well as check them in. I then told the nurses who were there and checked them into the nurses. Lastly, I was responsible for doing whatever I could to make the patients comfortable while they waited. Being at this welcome desk, I was asked so many different questions and most of the time was not able to answer them, but I was able to point them in the right direction or get them the help they needed. I loved serving for this hospital and have been for the past few years. The people are always so welcoming to me, and I have had so many encouraging conversations with them. I feel like I have learned a lot from the professionals and watching how they all can work as a team, and how every member counts. I hope to continue to serve here for the next few years as long as I am living in Fayetteville.

Nandini Arunachalam
I mentored Nandini several times over the course of this year and have had so much fun. She was my mentee last year and she has so much ambition and drive. I am helping her with her pre-med track and giving suggestions and feedback as to how she can build her resume as well as helping her with the classes she is taking. Not only do I feel like I have been able to mentor her, but I feel like she is helping me grown and we have been getting closer ever year. I can't wait to see where her career takes her in the future.

Starting in September I began volunteering at Arkansas Childrens Hospital Northwest and have loved every minute of it. I work in the emergency department with the Art Cart, and my main focus is to help distract the children that come in by giving them things to do like crafts or drawing with them. I have loved getting to work with Arkansas Childrens because they have a great environment for the children, and I love being able to serve and volunteer my time there to help in the little ways.
The Pi Phi 5k is our annual fundraiser for our philanthropy, children's literacy. It is a great way to get people engaged and involved in children's literacy by walking or running the 5k to help raise money to give to these children.
