I went to Feed the 479 on April 9 from 8:00 until 11:30 to help the underserved populations of Northwest Arkansas grocery shop. This has by far been my favorite volunteer activity that I have done throughout my 4 years here at the U of A. I feel like I really made a difference through this activity. I got to help people who might not be able to afford groceries, buy food to eat. I got to minister and serve these individuals and make them feel loved for the short time they were in the "store." I got to meet so many volunteers and individuals from the Northwest Arkansas area. I would have to say that my favorite part about the whole experience was getting to hear everyone's life story. It made me realize how truly blessed I am to have a roof over my head and food to eat.

I went to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank to volunteer with some of my friends. At the food bank, we packed TONS of boxes full of food that will go to the underserved people of Northwest Arkansas. I absolutely loved getting to be a part of something bigger than myself. I also loved getting to know that what I did for two hours could make a families whole week.
I had the opportunity to go to the Fayetteville public library this Saturday to volunteer at the Arkansas Miracles Main Event. At this event, I got to help run activities such as face painting, playing with balloons, crafts and play doh for kids that are patients at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Springdale. This was such an incredible opportunity. I absolutely loved getting to meet the kids and their families. It was so much fun to see how much fun these kids had and to get to hear all of their incredible stories.
I got to attend and help out at Zeta's philanthropy event King of Pink. King of Pink is a fundraiser where men from the fraternities at the University of Arkansas create dance routines/performances to perform and compete against each other to raise money for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. At this event, I helped support and tear down the event afterwards! It was such a fun time getting to support a cause so near and dear to my heart. I loved getting to help out our amazing philanthropy chair (who crushed this event by the way).
I volunteered at the Washington Regional Cancer Center. I got to cook lunch for the women at the center. We prepared tacos, served food, cleaned up and did crafts with the women. It was such a great opportunity. I loved getting to sit with these patients and hear their stories. I think that this experience really benefitted all of the patients that I got to be around. I think having a group of young girls to hang out with made these women's days.
I attended clinical at Washington regional, helping the nurses take care of patients and lessen their loads! It was so much fun!!
I went on a 2.26 mile walk/run at Lake Fayetteville with my mom! It was a super pretty day and we had a lot of fun getting to enjoy the weather while also supporting a great cause!
Went on a 2.74 mile walk back home at a mall in Overland Park with my grandma!!
I went to the Bentonville Animal Shelter and volunteered for an hour and a half. I helped walk dogs and play with them outside. I went with some friends from work and had so much fun!
I went back to Kansas City for the weekend, and decided to volunteer at my church. I helped out in the elementary school aged kids section. I helped put together activities, run activities, lead groups and just supervise the kids while their parents where in church service. This benefitted both the children and their parents. The parents were able to go and enjoy their Sunday at church kid-free. Overall, I love helping out at my church and think it is so fun to get to play with the kids for just a couple hours.
