I babysat for Mrs. Shelby for the day while she attended a wedding out of town. I have babysat for her multiple times throughout the semester. She has three kids and also fosters children. Currently, she has the same foster baby she had last semester, and I provide what is known as "respiratory care." This primarily means that I help watch her kids for free when she needs a break or has plans. It's a way to allow foster parents to take some time to regroup without having to worry about the financial burden, as this process can be very stressful.
I have been babysitting for Mrs. Shelby since my sophomore year, and I absolutely adore her family. It has been both rewarding and fun to watch their kids grow and to see them serve the Lord through the children that come into their home. I am truly grateful to be a small part of their support system!

I provide respitory care for Shelby every semester multiple times a year. I babysat for her on November 4th when she needed to take her foster baby to Arkansas Children's in Little Rock and I watched one of her other children. I have become very close to Mrs. Shelby over the years and our family's are close given our shared experience of foster care. I absolutely love her kids and love babysitting when I get the chance. I have also had the chance to introduce other Chi O's to her to help when I can't or when she is teaching and that has been great!
This will be my third year I believe providing respitory care for Shelby. I do this for free when she needs a break from the stresses of being a foster parent. Last time I watched her kids, she had a new foster baby in the house. She still has the same baby and it is such a rewarding experience seeing how far she has come. Shelby wanted to go out of town for the weekend so I watched the kids during the day until her mom came that evening. I have such a passion for foster care so anytime I can watch foster children or be a little part of their story it makes me so joyful. I am thankful Shelby allows me to come back as much as she does.
Provided Respitory Care for Mrs Shelby's foster baby while she took her kids to the doctor. I have stated a lot about what Respitory Care is on my previous impacts.
I volunteer for Mrs. Shelby pretty much every semester. I provide respitory care for he. This is for foster parents who want a night/day off or just have other obligations and need to be able to go to them without their children. "Respitory care" is babysitting their foster kids as well as the biological/adopted kids if needed free of cost. It is one of my favorite things to do. I have been doing it with Mrs.Shelby for a couple years and her kiddos are getting so big. She adopted one of the foster kids I babysat last year and now she has a 3 month old in her house. It is one of the most rewarding experiences and something I am so passionate about. Watching them grow and continue to give to Fayetteville is amazing to watch and I am just glad I get to be apart of their journey.
I have voluntered for Mrs. Marks last semester in providing child care for her foster children. Respiratory Care is when you give foster parents time off when they need it from the stresses that come from being a foster parent. I used to provide this in my home town so my family knew of this couple here and I was able to keep assisting this semester like I did last semester. This is one of my favorite ways to give back to the community and I love the children SO MUCH!

I participated in respiratory care for a local set of foster parents who needed a night off. Respiratory care is used when the foster parents need a break or just an extra set of hands. My family was involved in foster care back home where I did the same thing and they knew of a couple in Fayetteville who needed some help one night. I provided care for the kids which allowed them to get a break.
I thought it was a good survey that asked important questions.
I volunteered at the Down Syndrome Run in Northwest Arkansas. During my time volunteering I helped set up all the different stations like food and games. I also helped work the game stations once the event started. When the walk began I cheered or the walkers/runners and then following the race I helped take the booths down and clean up. This run is to help children with down sydrome feel welcomed and also a good chance for people in the community to come out and support a local organization. This was an awesome experience. I enjoyed all of it and would definitely do it again next year!
