The mission of this organization really resonates with me. Education has always been super important in my family and Carpe Librum uses the funds they receive from the book sales towards education resources for public schools. Most of the people who work there are volunteers and It was impactful to be able to contribute to this mission.
It was very impactful to sit there and create a card that a person is going to read and it may brighten up their day.
I learned about the importance of access to educational resources. Education and learning is a very important thing to me and it is very critical for everyone to able to have these resources. Turning the Pages does relatively cheap book sales where 1) people can purchase these materials inexpensively and 2) their proceeds are donated.
I really enjoyed helping out with this year WDoS. Every year is a different experience, especially because there are new community partners and new students. It was really meaningful to see students still show up ready to serve in the middle of a tropical storm. It shows the importance of service and community-building.
