This meeting was more of a recap on domestic violence. Finely showed us a presentation regarding the definition of dating violence, signs of lethality, effects of abuse on children and etc. She also talked about gender norms and how there are still jobs that are more male-dominated than women and vice versa. She mentioned this Netflix show called maid which was interesting because someone else recommended me that series too and heard it was good. I found the ted talk very interesting because it was this man named Jackson who is a male talking about the importance of why other men or boys should care about this issue as well and about getting people involved in ending this violence.

I enjoyed being part of this walk and supporting women that are dealing with domestic violence. Some people even stopped us and asked what the walk was for. We made sure to let them know about the College Bride Walk and exactly what we were supporting. I think it was a great experience for walking for a cause but also the orientation really gave me a better understanding of domestic abuse and how important it is to bring awareness to people about this issue.

This impact is specifically for the performing arts of the College Bride Walk. I liked listening in to this meeting because Laura talked more about domestic violence and she showed videos that represented someone who's in a domestic violence relationship. She showed a video of Euphoria that showed the toxic relationship between Maddie and Nate. I actually used to watch this show, I have only gotten to the first season but I definitely saw this dynamic of toxicity and the anger that Nate would have towards Maddie and how easy it was for him to snap. There were some interesting performances but one of the ones I liked the most was the music video called "Flower in the Gun". I thought the song was very moving with its words and it mainly focused on gun violence with domestic violence. The most surprising fact of it all was when she said that "domestic violence is the number one cause for mass shootings in the United States 54% of mass shootings are the result of a domestic violence situation so there's a strong thread here." That really opened my eyes on how bad domestic violence can turn into. This video was very educational and it gave me more insight on domestic violence in general.
