Because I was a first time volunteer, I lacked the training needed to interact with the animals. My jobs consisted of laundry, cleaning, and organizing. Although I didn't get to interact with the animals, I know my group and I were still a big help after realizing how difficult it is to run the shelter. There are no breaks; the shelter is run every day, and if they fall behind on something, it's the animals that suffer. The environment was a little sad because of the many animals that are there, but it's better than seeing them on the street. People at that shelter give so much of their time to these animals and it inspired me to want to do the same.
