Organization: Sedro-Woolley High School Volleyball Program
During the end of summer/my pre-internship of student teaching, I had the pleasure of volunteering as an assistant coach with the Sedro-Woolley High School Volleyball program. I worked with all three teams (Varsity, JV, and C-team) at practice and during matches, but the majority of my time was spent working with the C-team on developing basic skills and volleyball knowledge. Here is a fairly detailed list of my responsibilities during my time with the volleyball program:
-Choose and implement drills based on game performance
-Work with individuals and groups on developing certain skills (hitting approach, blocking, serving, passing techniques, diving)
-Explaining the more technical rules of volleyball (doubles, carries, back row attack, etc)
-Teach the C-team proper rotations and positioning
-Collaborate with other coaches about program-wide expectations
-Offer sideline advice to all three teams midgame
    -Record stats during varsity matches
-Line judge during varsity and jv matches
-Support players both inside and outside of the gym
There are plenty of other things I did as an assistant coach, but these were my most common and important responsibilities. I absolutely loved my time volunteering with SWHS volleyball because not only did it remind why I personally love the sport, it also allowed me to share my love of the sport with younger players and encourage them to become the best players they can be. And, it also allowed me to practice building bonds with high school age students, which is a very important skill for me to develop as a future high school teacher. This volunteer experience absolutely reinforced my desire to become a coach at whatever school I find myself employed at because it was so fun and positive!

I absolutely loved volunteering at the Children's Museum this summer! It is such a fun and accepting place for kids and families, and aims to do so much good for the community, and I loved getting to be a part of it.
