Sunny to partly shaded (by tree cover). Temp 96F, still. No bee activity in pollinator garden at Mayfield Park. Several large carpenter bees nectar robbing Malvaviscus arboreus. Other insect activity: isolated honey bee and red wasp. Lots of dragonflies.

No bee activity observed in either pollinator gardens or cultivated gardens. Pollinator gardens currently have no blooming plants. Did see a few wasps, flies, lepidoptera in the cultivated gardens but no bees, not even honey bees. T93F, mostly shady in cultivated gardens, not windy.

Observed several Megachile bees and one large Carpenter Bee nectaring on Wedelia texana in small gardens in front of and behind the chimney swift tower. No bee activity seen in the cultivated garden plots but there were some species of Lepidotera.

Observed leaf cutter/mason bees and sweat bees on Wedelia texana in pollinator garden behind Chimney Swift Tower and large carpenter bees in cultivated plots 14 (Salvia sp.) and 38 (Malvaviscus arboreus) (. 90F, sunny-partly shady, mostly still. Honey bees on Eysenhardtia texana.

84-86F, sunny and still in the pollinator gardens by the Chimney Swift Tower (CST) and parking lot kiosk. Deep shade in the cultivated gardens. In CST garden there was a dragonfly, a few honey bees, a wasp and a mint moth. No native bee activity observed. In cultivated garden there were a few honey bees and dragonflies. No native bee activity observed.

Observed bee activity at Mayfield Park. 88F, sunny, winds about 8mph. Saw a few native bees (genus Halictus?) nectaring on Wedelia texana. Also a few honey bees and lepidoptera all on pollinator garden near chimney swift tower. No bees observed in cultivated gardens of the park.

79F, partly cloudy to sunny, still and humid. Activity in garden near Chimney Swift Tower: solitary honey bee on Plateau Golden-eye and flies, damsel flies, lepidoptera and red wasps. In cultivated gardens, honey bees on false dayflower in #38. Only native bee observed in Mayfield Park was a long horned bee species nectaring on false day flower in plot #16. Photos added to iNat project but quality is poor.

Midmorning, cloudy, still, temps around 80F. Observed two species of sweat bees, one nectaring on Wedelia texas near the Chimney Swift Tower. Also saw a Megachile policaris nectaring on Salvia greggii. Saw 2nd species of sweat bee nectaring on Salvia greggii in pollinator garden at opposite end of parking lot. Also saw honey bees, damsel flies and wasps. Observed zero pollinator activity, not even honey bees in cultivated gardens inside park enclosure.

Overcast, not windy, 79-86 degrees. Observations in pollinator garden by chimney swift towers. Lepidoptera, red wasp, birds, honey bees and Megachile texana observed. Megachile texana was nectaring on Wedelia texana and Salvia greggii. Photos added to iNaturalist NBMP project.
