What I liked most about Blazer Kitchen is that it is a small building but makes many impactful memories. I enjoyed everything about Blazer Kitchen and will take what I learned into my future endeavors.
The most challenging experience I had at Blazer Kitchen was putting my fears aside. I was anxious about messing up, but the volunteers, employees, and administrators made me feel better. As they helped me understand the ins and outs of Blazer Kitchen, I quickly became assimilated and my fear of messing up went away.
My key takeaway from this day is how comfortable I felt walking into the Kitchen and taking shoppers to the back of the building to shop. Although I enjoyed my last day at Blazer Kitchen, I will miss being around the shoppers, volunteers, employees, and administrators. Knowing that Blazer Kitchen exists, and I volunteered there will always be a memorable part of my experience at UAB.

What I like most about working at Blazer Kitchen is helping patients, students, and employees explore the different foods, diapers and wipes, and menstrual items in the pantry. I enjoy knowing that I am making a difference in someone’s life and their family’s lives.
I think that the most challenging thing about working at Blazer Kitchen is learning how to input the Bundle of Hope and TOP menstrual products into the computer. After inputting the client’s information into the computers, it gradually got easier for me to understand.
My key takeaway from this day is knowing that I am a big part of someone’s day. I understand that without Blazer Kitchen, a lot of people will not have access to food, or will have to travel elsewhere to get it.

I helped students and employees of UAB fill their carts with food, diapers and wipes, and menstrual items. I also restocked the hazelnuts and canned fruits.
What I liked most about my volunteer experience at Arrington Elementary was getting to know some of the 3rd and 4th graders. I learned a lot about children and how to respect them, while they were doing the same with me.
The most challenging part of this experience was me being in my head for a lot of the sessions. I do not think that I was confident until the last few sessions.
My key takeaway from this day was how excited the children were to see me and my partner. I was a little upset when we had to tell them that it was our last day, but it made me proud to know that we tried to make a difference in the children’s lives.
