My cell group and I went to Potter's House's warehouse off of Greg Street this last Saturday at 10am. We broke down recliners and tables so they would fit in the dumpster. We also helped sort clothes in a semi-truck that are going to be recycled. It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning and I am glad I got the chance to serve!

Last Friday night, I volunteered at rEcess. This is an event that happens once a month and is designed to give parents with kids who have disabilities a chance to have a date night or a "night off." I love serving for this organization because I essentially get to be a camp counselor for a night, and it is a blessing to the parents who sign up. I played Mario Kart and Mario Party with two pre-teens, and I had a lot of fun!
Tonight, I served at rEcess. It is a monthly event put on by 99 balloons. This event allows parents who have kids with disabilities and their siblings to be dropped off at rEcess for them to have a date night. I got to run around with a five-year-old boy for 4 hours. We played, soccer, ping pong, and built cars out of Legos.
On Saturday, BYX had our annual BYX Serves Day. This is a day when the members of BYX will go out into the community of Fayetteville and volunteer and various non-profits. This year, we went to Cobblestone Farms off of Weddington and helped them prepare the farm to be used. I personally shoveled dirt and then helped pull plastic out of the ground. we served from 10am-12pm. I enjoyed doing manual labor for free with my friends!
Today, I worked as a houseboy at the Chi Omega Sorority on the University of Arkansas campus. I asked that I replace my normal compensation of minimum wage for two community service hours. I helped prepare the lunch with the chefs by putting together barbecue chicken sandwiches and I cooked French fries as well. I also took out the trash, replaced the cups, refilled the coffee, and did the dishes as well. I enjoyed getting to serve the Chi O's in ways that they do not see and I enjoyed the opportunity to serve.
At 99 balloons, I was able to play with kids with disabilities and their siblings. This was, once again, an incredible experience and something I look forward to again. It reminds me of the summer camp I work at because I get to throw a football with a kid and just hangout with them which is something I really enjoy doing.
On Friday night, me and my roommates volunteered at the recess event put on by 99 balloons. This is a night where parents who have children with disabilities can drop off their kids and have a date night to themselves. We played with the kids while their parents went out. I had an incredible time; it reminded me of camp in the sense that I just get to play games with kids and it brings me so much joy.
Me, David Puryear, and Ryan Jones served at Lifesource this morning. We broke down boxes, stocked shelves, swept, and cleaned out there air vents. It is always encouraging to go to Lifesource to serve and get nothing in return. It feels good to help this that are less fortunate and they always appreciate our service.
I helped them hang up clothes, organize pants by size, and carried some large tubs they had in the back. They were very kind and easy to work for. I would love to volunteer here again.
I played with the kids that came to Life Source. I just sat and talked with them and we played in the dirt. It reminded me of camp and how much I love being around kids.
