I enjoyed the opportunity to get to know some artists and patrons of the college of fine arts and the Austin art community collectively.
It was great to see the whole organization come together to support members of the Austin community in need.
It was a great experience to talk with all of the grad students and visit their work spaces. Hearing about their work first hand was eye opening and inspiring.
My recent experience at the Concho Community Garden was hugely rewarding. This past Sunday we cleared a section of a garden plot in preparation for planting a variety of beans. After prepping the soil and configuring the layout, we finally planted the beans. The whole experience was fun and quite informative as well.
During this amazing volunteer opportunity at UT's Concho Community Garden, we participated in some general maintenance of the garden plots and constructed a large plot out of scrap wood and excess soil. It was great to work closely with some members of Project Volunteer, and some other volunteers who I met on the job. It's amazing what we were able to accomplish in such a short time by planning and collaborating together.
On Halloween night, Project Volunteer trick-or-treated for canned foods to donate to the Capital Area Food Bank. While it was exciting to be collecting goods to help support citizens of Austin in need, it was also great to assist members of the Austin community to get involved by donating.
It was a joyful and emotional experience writing letters to active service members. While we are often reminded to be thankful for our service men and women, there isn't often an opportunity to interact directly with currently serving members of the military.
