    Community Service for Biology Students

I volunteered with Martha's table, and like always I had an amazing time. Today we distributed cabbage, potatoes, rice, tomatoes, apples, bananas, oranges, and many more produce. We focus on making sure we are giving out food that is full of the nutrient and proteins that we all need to have in our daily lives.

I volunteered with Martha's table. We were set up at Friendship PCS Southeast Elementary and Middle school. There, we passed out different nutritious foods to the children and parents at dismissal. The goal of martha's table is to decrease the food desert in the zones that need it across DC. They only give out nutritious foods that strengthen the body. Fruits, veggies, proteins, starch, ect. these things provide the students and families that may not be able to afford the proper items to nourish their body. I had an amazing time volunteering with them and would do it again.

I volunteered at Martha's Table and I had a great experience. I met lot's of different people. What I did there was distribute food to people; we gave away cabbage, potatoes, onions, rice, celery, eggs, apples, oranges, bananas, kiwi, ect. Eating a variety of nutrient full fruits and vegetables provides important vitamins and minerals. rice gives people a quick boost of energy via carbohydrates they carry. potatoes are full of nutrients while being fat and cholesterol free. All of these foods are nutrient based and help build people biological makeup.
