Aja Pence

This internship panal experience allowed me to share my experiences and advice from my summer internship to students pursuing future students. This was a great experience for me because I was able to provide guidance about searching for internships, working through the application cycle in a timely manner, and how to navigate an interview for a potential internship.

My community internship greatly benefitted my future career path as it allowed me to apply social work theories and views learned in a classroom setting to individuals and an entire organization. My internship helped me discern what aspects of my career field I like and don't necessarily like and what kind of agency I want to work for in the future. I grew so much professionally and personally and have often referenced my time spent at my internship. I am a huge advocate for interning as it provides a huge deal of professional development, networking and experience in a short amount of time.

I was at Salvation Army from 4:45-6:20 pm. Came out and served dinner, it was a busy evening! I also stayed after and visited with a couple of residents and learned more about the rules and regulations and services offfered through the drug abuse program. I'm interested in what all services are offered through the Salvation Army, and may even use that information for an essay topic for my Social Work class. Overall, it was a good and busy time.

I spent an hour of Razorbash helping set up SWAG's Razorbash table, and recruiting potential new members.
