Description

Greetings Volunteers, we’d like to thank you for volunteering for Keep Austin Beautiful's Clean Lady Bird Lake event. You'll be joining 100+ other volunteers to give some extra care to the lake and trails. You have signed up to participate in the Austin Rowing Club Waterway cleanup. All ages are welcome at this site with adult supervision. Just as a reminder, this is a kayak based cleanup and boats will be provided for no fee. If you are not able to attend, please cancel your registration to open spots for the next volunteer.

Your Lake Leader for this site will be the Austin Rowing Club Staff and they will have your cleanup supplies, helpful safety guidelines, and further instructions for you.

“Know Before You Go”

  • Per Texas State Law, life jackets are required for everyone on a watercraft. For all children 13 and under the life jacket must be worn at all times. For more information on boater safety, please look to TPWD.
  • Be aware that toxic algae blooms can occur in Lady Bird Lake. Whenever you're around natural bodies of water, remain vigilant.
  • Recognize that zebra mussels are invasive and widespread in Texas waterways. Let us know if you see any zebra mussels during your volunteer activity.
  • Be able to identify poison ivy, oak, and sumac; identifying these plants is essential for a safe cleanup.
  • Hydrate and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Consult this guide for tips on recognizing and addressing heat-related issues.
  • For directions on where you are going for your cleanup - look at the Clean Lady Bird Lake Maps available!
