Autism 5K at Holy Rosary School
Volunteering at Germantown animal shelter was a meaningful experience that helped me grow both personally and independently. A large part of my time was spent walking dogs, which taught me responsibility, patience, and attentiveness as I worked to keep them safe, calm, and comfortable. I also watched kittens for a little bit who are too young to be adopted, which helped me understand the level of care and nurturing they need in their early stages of life. These experiences showed me how important consistency and compassion are in creating a supportive environment for animals in transition. Working independently pushed me to take initiative and build confidence in my abilities. Overall, my service contributed to the well-being of the animals by giving them exercise, attention, and comfort, while also reinforcing the importance of empathy and care in my own life.
