I really enjoyed getting to learn more about Children's Advocacy Center and Americorps Vista. I learned that child abuse is an epidemic and how 940 children walked through the Children's Advocacy Centers doors in 2022. I also learned about Americorps vista and how being apart of this group can help you with future plans such as law school or getting a masters degree.

I enjoyed hearing from the CAC and from VISTA. I really appreciate what CAC does because as they said, 1 in 3 girls and 1 and 5 boys will experience abuse. I also enjoyed hearing about the unique VISTA program and how that is a great option after graduation for someone who doesn't have set plans.

Three speakers on this zoom! First one talked about her job at a child abuse prevention center. They put on many events and fundraisers especially in the month of April because it’s child abuse prevention month. The second speaker talked about something to do after college for a job or a gap year which is the vista program. The third speaker talked about leading by a mission.

CAC is a program that helps abused or in danger children. They complete all the steps of assessment in one sitting and record the interview with the child to protect the child from having to re-interview multiple times. AmeriaCorp Vistas is a great option if you need a gap year after college, it has tons of benefits including an award, a pause on loans, and a housing grant. Life Styles helps disabled adults gain life skills and get employment. They are having an issues retaining good, quality employees and need volunteer help as well, along with that, they have very long client waiting lists.
