Overall, I really enjoyed this volunteer opportunity with White Spring Ranch. It was really interesting to not only see the different penmanship used years ago but also the way people spoke through writing that is so different than we do today. It was also really cool to take a peak into the lives of people so many years ago. One of the letters I types was from 1919... over 100 years ago!
I was able to transcribe 3 more letters for the White Spring Ranch Museum. I was able to do two more written by the same girl to her brother, and then one that was to the brother from his friend from school. It was so interesting to be able to read a series of letters to someone in the military from family and friends. This was such an awesome opportunity and I am so glad that I was able to be a part of it!
Being able to transcribe a letter that was handwritten by someone in 1948 was such a cool experience. My letter was from someone writing to her brother in the navy updating him on her life at school. It was so interesting to get a little slice of history and be able to be helpful to the White Spring Ranch Museum with transcription processes.
Was such a great experience getting to read old letters and type them up to be read by more people!
