About
Have a brother, sister, or someone you love with autism, ADD, or ADHD?
Then you know how much the little victories mean. The first connection. The unexpected smile. The moment a child realizes, “I CAN do this!”
At Therapeutic Riding of Tuscaloosa (TROT), you can help create those moments for other children—right alongside some pretty amazing horses!
No therapy degree needed. No horse experience required. Just patience, compassion, and a heart for kids who experience the world differently.
Volunteer afternoons: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, 3–6 PM.
Turn what you've learned from someone you love into something wonderful for another child.

Worried you don't have the right experience? Don't! We'll train you!
You don't need experience working with children with autism or ADHD, and you don't need to know anything about horses. We'll teach you what you need to know!
All we ask is that you bring compassion, patience, dependability, and a willingness to learn. We'll provide the training and guidance to help you feel confident and comfortable in your volunteer role.
You bring the heart. We'll teach you the rest!
