About
Each April, in honor of Earth Month, Keep Austin Beautiful hosts Keep Austin Beautiful Day, a city-wide day of service spanning over one hundred sites in all ten city council districts in the greater Austin area.
During Keep Austin Beautiful Day, thousands of volunteers work together to remove litter, restore native habitats, and beautify neighborhoods. On Saturday, April 18, join us in caring for the beloved green spaces and waterways that make Austin so special for the 41st Annual Keep Austin Beautiful Day.
What to bring: Closed toe shoes, a FULL water bottle, and comfortable clothing. We will provide all tools and neoprene gloves - if you have your own gardening or work gloves or a preferred brand of bug spray you are invited to bring them.
Where to park: Parking is street parking along River Oaks Trail.
Where we will begin: 11801 River Oaks Trail; This cleanup event will take place at a generous creekside NEWCNA neighbor's home.
Look for brightly colored cones leading from front of home along the concrete walkway on the right-side of the house. We will have a folding table set up in the back yard for volunteers to sign in and gather supplies.
When going down to creek, look for the big Spanish Oak tree and access the creek using the stairs closest to the shed. The nearer and steeper set of stairs by the picnic table are a tripping risk. Enter the creek from the yard via the large rocks in front of the final set of stairs.
It’s not difficult to maneuver, but kids might need help and use caution of the creek is up and the rock is wet. Poison ivy is rampant in springtime so take precautions. Additionally, Sam's nextdoor neighbors have an infant, so please do not access back to the road between the two houses, just go between the house and the empty lot to get back to the front.
Pathways will be marked with colored cones.
Youth Volunteers: All volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian must register and attend with the youth volunteer. Independent registrations submitted by minors are not permitted.
A NOTE ON SAFETY: With all of our volunteer events, we encourage you to “See and Be Seen!” Be mindful of your fellow volunteers and maintain awareness of your surroundings at all times. Dial 911 in case of emergency.
