Service Learning Opportunity: Teach Financial Literacy to Local Middle School Students at JA Finance Park (Prince George’s County)

Open Opportunity

About

Earn service learning or community service hours while helping local middle school students build real-world financial skills.

JA Finance Park® is an immersive, hands-on learning experience that prepares students to be financially capable and ready for their futures. Through a public-private nonprofit partnership between local school systems, businesses, educators, and volunteer mentors, students learn how to manage money, make informed decisions, and plan for life beyond the classroom.

You won’t be doing this alone.

Whether you volunteer individually or as part of a group, our friendly staff will be on site throughout the day to provide training, guidance, and support.

What you’ll do as a volunteer:

As a JA Finance Park volunteer, you’ll guide a small group of middle school students through a personal budgeting simulation. Students are assigned a life scenario and make decisions about housing, transportation, and everyday expenses.

Your role is to coach discussion, ask guiding questions, and help students understand budgeting and trade-offs. No finance or teaching experience is required.
