Habitat restoration at Dudley Park

Dudley Park is a 24-acre park located minutes from downtown Athens and provides river and forested trail access to the community. Preserving the ecological health of this urban oasis benefits wildlife as well as the many community members who value green space access. We are looking for volunteers to help address and emerging invasive plant infestation at Dudley Park. Japanese Knotweed is an aggressive cane-like plant that can out-compete native plant communities. Early eradication is essential and will help prevent the spread of this insidious plant!

We will provide all the tools necessary for controlling the Knotweed. Please wear boots, long pants, and a long sleeved shirt. We also recommend applying bug spray as the mosquitoes are particularly bad this year.
