2025 Tar River Community Science Festival

The Tar River Community Science Festival will soon be back for 2025! This festival celebrates our river, community, and relationship to one another. Like the years before, we will be hosting fun activities to expose people of all ages to science and promote shared learning about challenges faced by different communities in Eastern North Carolina. Our goal is to brainstorm together about possible solutions for water-related issues and build awareness around environmental challenges in our region.

This event will take place on Saturday, November 22nd, the Saturday 3 days before Thanksgiving break.

By volunteering, you will sign up for a shift - morning (9:00am - 12:30pm), afternoon (12:00pm - 3:30pm), or both, and assist with various operations occurring during the festival. This is a great opportunity to help inspire STEM education in community members of all ages, young or old.

By volunteering at this event you will receive:
-Food vouchers to eat FREE at attending food trucks (~$10 value).
-A FREE T-shirt to wear while volunteering (while supplies last).
-Service hours for classes, organizations, etc. 

The volunteer will be picked up from the Main Campus Student Center Bus Loop at the start of their shift. Free parking will be available at the MCSC garage. The buses/vans will be running at regular times, but if this doesn't work for you, email me at griffinz24@students.ecu.edu.
