College Prep Tutor (Afterschool Girls Program – Ages 12–18)

Toxic Elite Dance Company is seeking a passionate, trauma-informed, and culturally aware College Prep Tutor to support our afterschool initiative for girls ages 12–18. This volunteer will play a critical role in helping underserved youth navigate academic challenges and prepare for successful college placement. The tutor will work directly with participants to build confidence in core academic subjects, develop strong study habits, explore college and scholarship opportunities, and reinforce life skills essential for higher education success.

Time Commitment:

• Days: 1–3 days per week (flexible scheduling)

• Hours: 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM

• Location: Toxic Elite Dance Company (onsite)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group academic support

• Assist students with homework, test prep, and writing assignments

• Support college application and scholarship research

• Foster a safe, encouraging environment for learning and self-expression

• Build meaningful relationships rooted in respect and cultural sensitivity

• Communicate regularly with program staff regarding student needs and progress

Ideal Volunteer Has:

• Experience working with youth (especially ages 12–18)

• Strong academic foundation (college students and graduates encouraged to apply)

• Trauma-informed and culturally competent approach

• Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to underserved communities

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
