Who We Are
Open Door Exchange (ODE) is a furniture bank based in Port Jefferson Station, Long Island.
Since 2015, we’ve been collecting gently used furniture and redistributing it—free of charge—to
individuals and families in need. Our clients include veterans, survivors of domestic violence,
single parents, and people transitioning out of homelessness or financial hardship.
ODE has partnered with over 100 local agencies and has served thousands of households. In
addition to helping people build safe, stable homes, we’re also helping protect the
environment—diverting over 1.1 million pounds of furniture from Long Island landfills since our
founding.
We rely on the power of community—volunteers, donors, and local supporters—to make this
mission possible. Whether you have a few hours a week or want to get more involved long-term,
there’s a role for you at ODE.

Social Media and Storytelling volunteer description:
Create compelling content that showcases our impact. Capture photos, videos, and stories to help grow our presence on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Best fit for Digital Media, Journalism, English, or Marketing majors.
