About
More rescue due to delayed clearing on 14 wooded, sloped acres. Feel welcome to bring empty mulch/soil bags or 5-gallon buckets to fill with rich soil before they scrape it when clearing. Some rescued plants will be donated to Travis County Parks, Vireo Preserve, JJ&T Preserve, and a variety of local pollinator gardens for habitat restoration. Uncommon natives and small herbaceous perennials are the priority:
Acourtia runcinata - featherleaf desertpeony
Chamaesaracha edwardsiana - Edwards plateau five eyes
Solidago radula - rough goldenrod
Galphimia angustifolia - narrowleaf goldshower
Ipomoea lindheimeri - Lindheimer's morning glory
Lithospermum incisum - fringed puccoon
Pinaropappus roseus - pink dandelion
Senna roemeriana - twoleaf senna 🐝
Schoenocaulon texanum - Texas feathershank
Clematis texensis - scarlet leather flower
Verbesina lindheimeri - Lindheimer's crownbeard 🐝
With the warm weather, keep a lookout for Texas bluestar and Texas plains breadroot (scurfpea)
Propagators: need volunteers to attempt rooting cuttings of Mexican silktassel & bluewood condalia (donate 75% of successes in fall)
Donation plants must be potted up on site (all roots covered, full pot of soil). For your own plants, bring plastic grocery bags, a bucket, or a wagon to move your rescues. Bring water to keep your plants from drying out. Wear gloves and bring your own tools and pots if you have them; however, we do have some tools and gloves to borrow as well as some small 4" and 1-gallon pots. Recommended to bring whatever you personally need to stay comfortable while working outdoors: water, kneeling pad, etc. :)
