About

Ashley High School is in need of bilingual volunteers to work with their multilingual learner students, many of whom recently arrived to the US. As an ESL teacher, it is nice to have extra help in my classroom or a content area for my Spanish speaking students, especially the newcomers. Volunteers are needed Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm.   

UNCW volunteers will help with:

  • small groups in the ESL classroom
  • newcomers in a math classroom
  • tutoring academic math vocabulary and math concepts
  • helping newcomers in a social studies classroom
  • tutoring social studies academic vocabulary
  • students with social studies content
