Opening Minds Through Art: June 21 - August 9, 2024 (seven weeks)

The JCA Heyman Interages Center invites volunteers to join us this summer for an award-winning, evidence-based, intergenerational art-making program called Opening Minds Through Art (OMA). Volunteers partner with JCA's Kensington Club members to help older adults with memory loss create abstract art projects that engage the mind and break through cognitive barriers.

OMA is a failure-free program designed to provide older adults with opportunities for creative self-expression and social engagement. SSL hours are available.

Volunteer Training: June 21st from 9 AM - 12 PM

Topics: Overview of dementia, OMA philosophy and methodology, effective communication, and creative facilitation skills

Art sessions: June 28, July 12, July 19, July 26, August 2 from 9:45 AM - 12:15 PM

Art show and reception: August 9th from 10 AM - 12 PM
