About
The Athens Water Festival is an annual family event celebrating all things water. Attendees will splash, play, and learn with hands-on, engaging water activities. The Water Festival theme this year is Elemental--a Disney and Pixar movie that was released in June which celebrates the four elements - water, fire, earth, and air.
As a Water Activity Volunteer, you will be leading hands-on, water-themed activities for Festival attendees. Activities will have an educational focus but are meant to be fun and engaging. Water activity volunteers should be comfortable interacting with children/parents and be excited to teach about water. No previous environmental education experience is required, and specific activity instructions will be available at your assigned station on the day of the Festival.
Morning volunteers will assist with Festival/activity set-up, and afternoon volunteers will assist with breakdown/clean-up.
Morning Shift: 9:30 AM - 12:15 PM
Afternoon Shift: 11:45 AM - 2:30 PM
Volunteers should bring sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and dress in clothes you don't mind getting wet. We suggest shorts, comfortable shoes, and a hat!
Volunteers under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult.
Please come prepared to be outdoors in the heat for the duration of your shift. Water coolers will be available for refilling a water bottle.
Volunteers must register by Wednesday, August 16 to be guaranteed their preferred size shirt.
Lunch will be provided, but please bring your own lunch if you have any dietary restrictions.
