Lend a helping hand at the Free Furniture Market! Volunteers will help reuse organizations unload furniture, help direct traffic, and assist residents in picking up furniture! Shifts last 2 hrs and 45 minutes. Spanish proficiency and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. are preferred, but not required. Volunteers will receive a cool-it towel, snacks, cold water, and discounts at Antone's Record Shop, Arcade UFO, and Cornucopia Popcorn!

Parking Information: Parking will be available onsite at the location
Background: Over 16,000 students live in West Campus - the off-campus neighborhood for UT Austin. Each July, a significant volume of reusable items are abandoned on the curb or near dumpsters when students move out. Established in 2018, MoveOutATX brings temporary donation stations to the area. The 2022 program will run July 28-31. Students and residents can donate gently used items like clothing, furniture, housewares, open or new cleaning supplies/toiletries, art/office supplies, unopened food and more.
MoveOutATX is a partner program between the City of Austin, UT Office of Sustainability, UT New Student Services, 8 local reuse organizations, and 6 local properties. Partnering reuse organizations will move gently used furniture accepted at the donation stations to the Free Furniture Market. Residents can come to this additional location and take anything they'd like!

Volunteer Responsibilities may include:
- Helping unload and organizing furniture.
- Checking in residents and answering questions.
- Tracking number of patrons, pieces and types of furniture.
- Managing traffic flow.
- This volunteer opportunity is outside.
- A tent for shade will be available.
- Please dress appropriately for the weather (breathable, loose clothing, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, additional sun protection).
- Ice water will be available onsite. Please bring a refillable water bottle.
- Feel free to bring a small Bluetooth speaker to play music!
- Bring your own gently used items to drop-off before or after your shift at a nearby donation station!
