ElderFriends Intern (Unpaid) - Help Us Combat Loneliness Experienced by Seniors

Open Opportunity

About

Are you passionate about supporting our goal to relieve isolation and loneliness among older adults in Seattle and King County?

Are you enrolled in an academic program (service learning, fieldwork, capstone, internship, etc.) involving a long-term commitment of 10+ hours/week for 6+ months?

We welcome your support for ElderFriends: a volunteer-based program of our nonprofit Full Life Care that provides volunteer companionship, outreach, and advocacy services for isolated older adults.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Support unmatched and matched elders and volunteers: Contact participants by phone and email. Maintain contact with a caseload of elders. Document progress of matched pairs.

  • Contribute to and support companionship matches: Collaborate with team to identify volunteers and elders to pair for ongoing friendly visits, based on geography, interests, and matching preferences. Assist with check ins, relationship building, and problem solving.

  • Provide community referrals: Learn about and connect participants with community resources as needed.
