Social Call, a Friendly Visitor Program for Older Adults

Open Opportunity

About

Now more than ever we’re looking for resourceful ways to stay connected with others. Social Call provides opportunities for community engagement by matching volunteers and adults aged 60+ for weekly one-on-one visits by phone or video conference.  Visits are typically 30 to 45 minutes. Volunteer Friendly Visitors commit to meeting their match for at least 6 months. Longer commitments are welcomed and encouraged!

Matching is based on practical factors such as availability and shared interests. We also take into consideration other concepts like what interpersonal attributes you might be seeking in a Social Call comrade. Volunteers find that being a Friendly Visitor is a uniquely rewarding experience and many develop longstanding friendships with their match.
All welcome! No tech necessary, you only need a phone. Free to participate and/or volunteer. Seeking bilingual volunteers!
We ask volunteers for a 6 month commitment, once a week for 30-45 minutes.
