About
Peace at Home Family Shelter is recruiting volunteers looking for direct impact volunteer opportunities to volunteer on our VIRTUAL Crisis Chat Line. Great opportunity for university students.
PAH Crisis Chat Line
- Volunteers provide crucial support and immediate response to those within our community who need support or are looking for resources and or contact within our organization.
- Crisis Chat line volunteers are expected to work a 2-hour shift regularly, which can be performed at Home using their own computer. There is a commitment of 6 months expected.
- Volunteers chosen for this position are expected to fulfill mandatory volunteer training and crisis line training where they will learn how to respond actively, provide support, safety plan, and learn how to leave those who contact us feeling empowered.
- There are two types of chats volunteers will come across on our chatline, crisis and non-crisis. Volunteers are not responsible for handling crisis situations.
- Staff members are in place to provide volunteers with support and backup whenever needed.
Our Crisis Chat Line is available Monday-Friday, 9-5 pm.
If you have any questions or would like to apply, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Michelle Durham, at mdurham@peaceathomeshelter.com.
