About
The Wells Branch project will focus on Keeping Wells Branch Beautiful by tending to the trees in the greenbelt.
Volunteers will:
- spread mulch around trees in the greenbelt to help them retain water and resist drought
- plant a few drought-tolerant trees purchased by the WB Disc Golf Club
- pull invasive plants using "weed wrenches" (we need adult volunteers to help with this task) and
- pick up litter
- Audrey Stewart from Treefolks will lead a tree-mapping activity. If you have a smartphone and want to help map trees, download the app before you come out and set up a free account so we are ready to roll. If you don't have a mobile device, you can still help with the mapping, as it involves measuring tree growth and identifying the tree type. To download the OpenTreeMap app (search for "opentreemap" without spaces) in the app store or google play store and set up a free account.
For those volunteers who will be pulling invasive ligustrum, you may encounter poison ivy, so I encourage you to wear long pants for protection.

I'm planning to bring a Brownie Girl Scout Troop #2186 - What is the best way to register the entire troop total count of adults and scouts so that we can register for the "It's My Park Day"? Thanks.

Hi Wendy, I have reached out to Bill Stout for guidance. The main reason for the online registration is that it gets all the waivers signed so we don't do paperwork on-site and then have someone key it into a computer later. Let's see what Bill has to say. You can always register yourself and then indicate all the other shirt sizes and quantities below that. I am not sure if that would show up on the # of people registered as 1 or many as far as how many volunteer slots remain before registration is full for the project, but it would communicate your shirt needs.
