Covert Park at Mount Bonnell: Clean-up and Maintenance

We will be cleaning up and maintaining one of Austin's most visited and cherished landmarks--Covert Park at Mount Bonnell.

We'll break into functional teams so we will tackle several opportunities to restore the park while occasionally pausing to enjoy its majestic views:

1) Pergola flower beds - weeding and mulching the upper flower beds near the summit pergola
2) Kiosk - weeding around the kiosk and then restoring the white river rock around the kiosk through maintenance and addition of new rock
3) Picnic tables - cleaning up areas around picnic tables and level compacted or eroded areas with crushed granite
4) Litter clean-up - pickup litter around the park - parking lot, stairs, trails, in the bushes, through the fence, we'll use litter grabbers and our gloved hands to remove unsightly trash and debris.

We'll begin the day with a welcome and safety briefing followed by a morning warm-up and workout as we carry tools and supplies to the summit.  We'll break into our teams to restore the mountain to visual glory and then we'll gather back at the summit to admire our efforts and celebrate with the awarding of prizes for the most unique litter item collected and the largest number of cigarette butts collected.

We look forward to having you join us!
