Patrick Eber

For my volunteering activity, I was lucky enough to be a part of a closing shift for a Food Bank close to downtown Wilmington. While volunteering, I was responsible for assisting anyone who came into the food bank with their shopping needs and informing new members on how the food bank operates. One thing I noticed was how unified everyone was who was volunteering together during our shift, and the hospitality that was shown to everyone who was a part of the volunteering. This was a very useful experience for me and allowed me to see life from a different perspective. The ability to help out those in need made me count my blessings and be grateful for the situation that I was born into. With this experience, I can take away key lessons that I could implement into my business career, such as showing everyone, regardless of their background, the same kindness and hospitality that you would expect in return. I would also slow down and remind myself that everything in life isn't promised, and allow myself to truly take in and be grateful for everything I have often. This volunteer opportunity was very useful for me, and I had a great time helping out!
