About

Welcome to Pease Park, we are glad you are here to help out. Today we will be planting native grass seeds in the park to either replace invasive species that have been removed or to fortify existing seeded areas.

Native species are so important to the local ecosystem because they co-evolved alongside the other organisms in the ecosystem. Native species need each other to fill specialized niches that only other native species can fill. Without a proper mixture of native species that work together in complement, an ecosystem becomes unhealthy and can sometimes even collapse if too much pressure is placed on one component instead of spread out amongst a biodiverse system.

Tools and gloves will be provided. Please bring your own water bottle and wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.
