Impacts
I assisted customers by helping them pick out food items and helped them with checking out all their items.
On this day I liked meeting new people who I work with as well as the customers. It was very interesting to learn about how everything works. I enjoyed learning about the goals of Blazer Kitchen and about everyone's impact. The most challenging was to get the amount of items right. We could only give out a specific number of each item. My key takeaway was the new connections that I made with everyone who works at Blazer Kitchen and the customers.
I liked that I got to help customers shop on my own. I also liked that I could help another volunteer learn how to shop for customers. I found the same experience to be challenging because I wanted to make sure that I did my job right and the customer left satisfied. I also wanted to make sure that I taught the new volunteer the right way so they can also do a good job with helping customers. My key takeaway was that I finally am able to assist customers without much help and I was able to help customers feel welcome and leave satisfied.
During this experience I liked most the teamwork that we had to rely on to unload the food truck and organize the shelves. I also liked that we were able to communicate well and get everything organized in a fast manner. The most challenging was organizing all items in the stock room. My takeaway from this day was the new people that I met and how their role is important for Blazer Kitchen.
This was my first shift at Blazer Kitchen and during this shift I experienced learning about checking out customers and where to find specific items and cleaning supplies, I also met other volunteers. I got to practice checking out customers as well as learning what food items are usually provided by this organization.
