Despite some bad weather, I volunteered for the Pease Park Conservancy today. Prior to my arrival, the Pease Park Conservancy brought 100 cubic yards of mulch to Pease Park. My work involved distributing mulch to various trees in the park by using a wheelbarrow. I felt like I was working in a rainforest because it rained for almost the entire time that I was in the park; however, I found my job fulfilling because I was doing meaningful work.

I really enjoyed volunteering for the Festival Beach Food Forest (FBFF). The FBFF had a booth with some garden plants, and anyone who wanted some plants could take them for their own home garden. The booth had curled kale, dino kale, and collard greens. When people came by, I would identify each group of plants for them. After they decided which plants they wanted, I would put the plants in a container and then fill the container with compost. I served many people throughout the day, and the vast majority of people that I served were very appreciative of my service and the plants they received.
I had a great time planting trees at the Shoal Creek Greenbelt this morning. The Pease Park Conservancy representatives were very nice and helpful. They supervised my work and would let me know if I was doing something improperly. I had never planted a tree before today, but it wasn't hard to learn the basics. Even if you have no experience with tree planting, the Pease Park Conservancy representatives will guide you through the process. It would definitely be interesting to go back to Pease Park many years from now to check on the trees that we planted today.
I lended a helping hand at the UT Concho Community Garden. While I was working there, I met some new people. Overall, I had a good experience at the UT Concho Community Garden.
I got to explore a part of Austin I had never been to before. During that process, I got to make that area look better by picking up trash alongside the creek. Improving the environment and serving the community are two great things to do. I engaged in both of those activities simultaneously, and I'm proud of what I did.
