Over Christmas break, I volunteered at Christ the King church in Little Rock, AR. I worked over the course of two days. During this time, I delivered presents for kids. This consisted of me picking up presents and taking them to the drop off center which was located right outside of Little Rock. I also cleaned out the storage shed for their annual fundraiser, Rexfest.
Students were more interact than usual. There was a line to get into Fullbright at one point so we went down the line and was able to talk to the students about what the meal swipe donation really was. Made it more personal.
We tabled in Fullbright dining hall for the meal swipes which was good because it was very convenient for the students.
Students not very interactive this time and we didn't have all the supplies we needed in the cart to be a prepared as we could have been. But now we know how to do it better!
It was very easy to do, I got to put together a ton of Christmas trees. It wasn't as awkward as I thought it was going to be to just walk in somewhere and help out, but that's what the directions were! I was quite anxious at first but quicky became comfortable in the work.
This assignment was a lot easier to do because I have already done one very similar to it!
This Apple seeds assignment was a bit more difficult than the others but overall it was fun to do!
I did Blessing Baskets and it was so rewarding! I loved getting to serve in my community.
I am working with Springdale Speaks in creating materials for their students to learn English, Spanish, and Marshallese. I named the characters used in the memory game included in the packet given to students. I recorded numbers in English and I am supposed to record vocab words in Spanish next month.
