Pulled out weeds and spread mulch. Painted the tennis court walls school bus yellow
For my service I took part in the Zap program at a local Elementary School in Austin, Zavilla Elementary School. The Zap program is an after school program for underprivileged kids at Zavilla Elementary that need extra help in school. When volunteering you spend your time helping students study flashcards and other things to help them perform better in school. Though this is enjoyable, I think that the biggest reward for taking part in this program is the conversations and relationships that you have and form with the kids. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, and I am going to take part in it a lot more next semester.
Well organized and fun
I spent four hours volunteering at my neighborhoods elementary school's annual carnival. I spent half of the time painting faces and the other half I spent watching and playing with little children on the playground. It was every enjoyable to see all the kids in my neighborhood as well as meet more. They were so appreciative of the smallest thing and it made the whole experience go by very quickly.
I loved working with the kids at Mount Nebo!
Great source of people and lot of positive feeedback
I would recommend this volunteer opportunity, you meet new people!
