About
Our Community
New Beginnings is composed of twenty individual cabins and one shared community building. The individual cabins allow each person to access shelter, heat and air conditioning, and feel safe behind a door that locks. The community building contains a commercial kitchen, bathrooms, showers, laundry, and offices.
Our Support Services
New Beginnings enrolls people who have been unsheltered long-term in Northwest Arkansas. We work in coordination with member partners in the Northwest Arkansas Continuum of Care.
The community invites people to come as they are without pre-conditions (such as sobriety, treatment, or medication compliance) before accessing shelter and getting help with obtaining more permanent housing and services. New Beginnings is guided by the residents, who create policies for how to keep the community safe and clean and how to live together as neighbors. There is a 24/7 staff presence to ensure the community is safe and supported. An onsite Housing Specialist meets with each resident each week to work on getting identification documents, accessing health care, and making progress on housing solutions that fit their needs.
Our Partners
New Beginnings is a community-supported effort. Faith centers and volunteer groups provide evening meals in the community kitchen. Transportation volunteers drive residents to appointments in the community vehicle. A garden consultant supports the residents in planning and caring for their garden. Our staff work collaboratively with partner non-profits and housing agencies to address shelter, health, and supportive housing needs in Northwest Arkansas.
