About

The mission of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) is to inspire Americans to protect wildlife for our children's future. Founded in 1936, NWF has four million individual members and supporters and 49 state-level affiliate organizations throughout the U.S.  NWF is unique among national conservation groups in having a long and respected track record in the field of environmental education. Our award-winning Ranger Rick magazine has brought the wonders of nature to generations of American children, and our wildlife habitat gardens and school greening programs have helped connect countless kids to nature and inspire them to become good stewards of the environment.

NWF’s environment-based educational programs currently reach 7 million students and more than 100,000 educators in 7,000 K-12 schools nationwide. Over 50% of the student population served each year is from diverse, low-income backgrounds.
