About
The Office of Nationally Competitive Awards (ONCA) at the University of Arkansas helps students discover and apply for prestigious scholarships, research opportunities, and fellowships that enhance their academic and professional growth. Our office also manages programs that connect student success with community impact — including Arkansas Reads and Celebrating Discovery.
Volunteer Opportunities:
-
Arkansas Reads: Support literacy and education by donating new or gently used books for underrepresented elementary and middle schools in the Arkansas Delta. For every five books donated, students can earn one volunteer hour. Volunteers can also assist with sorting, labeling, and organizing book donations throughout the year.
-
Celebrating Discovery: Current U of A students can earn volunteer hours by participating in outreach presentations to high schools across Arkansas, sharing their experiences with undergraduate research, study abroad, and college life to inspire younger students.
Through these programs, ONCA volunteers help expand educational access, promote literacy, and foster a culture of learning across our state.
