About

Aurora Healing & Advocacy Services (AHAS) offers crisis intervention and long-term healing services for survivors of sexual and domestic violence. AHAS utilizes volunteers to answer our 24/7 confidential hotline. Volunteers will work within the Healing Center at Aurora Sinai Medical Center and answer calls coming through the hotline. Volunteers will be trained to assess and address the needs of the caller by providing information and referrals, emotional support, and crisis intervention. Volunteers may also assist with some office support during their shifts as well! 

This position requires a minimum of 12 hours of coverage per month and a minimum of a 6-month commitment. Shifts are very flexible!

Volunteers must complete one volunteer training session before starting in this role. The trainings for the 23/24 year are below. Email nicole.glaser@aah.org if you're interested in getting started as a volunteer. 

Fall 2023

  • Wednesday, September 27 from 5:30pm-8:30pm (online)
  • Thursday, September 28 from 5:30pm-8:30pm (online)
  • Saturday, September 30 from 9am-3:00pm (in person)

Winter 2024

  • Wednesday, February 7 from 5:30pm-8:30pm (online)
