City Year was founded in 1988 as a national service program to unite young adults from diverse backgrounds for a demanding year of full-time community service. We believe that all students can succeed and that developing the skills and mindsets of children and our AmeriCorps members contributes to strong, vibrant communities.
Our City Year AmeriCorps members serve in schools all day, every day, preparing students with the social, emotional, and academic skills and mindsets to succeed in school and in life. Our members not only make a difference in the lives of students they serve, but also acquire valuable skills that help them and prepare them to be leaders in their communities and their careers.
