About

Snap wants to kick off a new school year in support of Literacy Month with an idea championed by one of our own Team members (Lisa Klatt).  We will be having US wide book pledge and asking those who sign up to donate one book to the Little Free Library in their area, a library, or a local charity that will accept them.

If you choose to participate, we ask that the books be educational, inspirational, or fun for all age groups. You can look to see where a Little Free Library is located near you: https://littlefreelibrary.org/map/

Why Does Book Access Matter?

We are facing a growing literacy crisis. Today in the United States, more than 30 million adults cannot read or write above a third-grade level. Studies have repeatedly shown that books in the hands of children have a meaningful impact on improving literacy. The more books in or near the home, the more likely a child will learn and love to read. But two out of three children living in poverty have no books to call their own. Access to education is one of our areas of focus and we encourage you to join Snap Cares in this cause!

Thanks - your Snap Cares Team

Information about the Free Little Library organization:

Their vision is a Little Free Library in every community and a book for every reader. They believe all people are empowered when the opportunity to discover a personally relevant book to read is not limited by time, space, or privilege.
