About

Pontchartrain Conservancy is seeking volunteers to help weed our native tree nursery! Bucktown Nursery is home to over 5,000 native trees including bald cypress, water tupelo, live oak, and green ash. This upcoming fall, these trees will be planted throughout the swamps of Southeast Louisiana as part of our coastal restoration efforts. Come help support the reforestation of our vanishing coastline!

We will meet for 8am on Friday August 19th. PC staff will lead volunteers in weeding the potted trees and adding fresh soil to the pots as needed. Please come prepared with sturdy shoes, a sun hat, and some water. PC will provide gardening gloves, sunscreen, bug spray, and refreshments to those who need it.

Our nursery is located at 399 Plaquemine Street in Metairie. Parking is available on the first floor of the Brown Foundation parking garage (located off Seminole Avenue) or street parking is available along Metairie-Hammond Highway.

We look forward to seeing you at the nursery! Feel free to contact Owen at owen@scienceforourcoast.org with any questions.
